Remodeling & New Homes Show returns to DeVos Place

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Show season is back at DeVos Place.

“Being absent last year was miserable at best,” says show director Carolyn Alt. “We love what we do and we think it shows in the end product.”

A year ago, DeVos Place was an immunization clinic.

“It was hard not to be there,” Alt says. “The building was an immunization clinic, which was wonderful for the community, but it’s also wonderful for the community.”

But now the Remodeling & New Homes Show is back.

“There are so many needs, and supply is such an issue,” says Lyn Cook. “So we come to that, and we see a bunch of people and different options, and find out if we can do any of these projects that we’d like to do.”

Because, like so many others, the time spent at home over the past year has turned the wheels towards something new.

Companies, like Heartland Builders, that need help say companies like theirs are going through uncertain times in the supply chain.

“Were busy. So that’s really helpful, and we appreciate that,” says Rich Kogel Schatz, owner of Heartland Builders. the garage door and the windows. Whereas before, we may have waited to order this.

They order ahead so things can be there when they are needed.

All in all, the past year has taught the show business at DeVos Place one thing:

“It’s really helped us take a lot less for granted,” Alt says.

Either way, West Michigan is in the same boat.

“We love coming to things like this,” Cook explains, “because you can see a lot of local businesses, which we’d like to support.”
